ELP 2011- Mercy Street Baseball Opening Day

West Dallas Little League baseball opening day at the Field of Dreams was a great success!  The first pitch was thrown by the President and CEO of the Dallas Housing Authority, MaryAnn Russ, and caught by Trey Hill, Executive Director of Mercy Street. There were many volunteers and tons of kids, suited up for a great day of baseball.  My favorite was the home run derby, where machine pitched baseballs were hit hard by excited youngsters. The presentation boards of the Field of Dreams masterplan drew a lot of attention and inquiries. The day was a hit with the community and a great start to the season.

ELP 2011- Day in the Park

The Emerging Leaders Program spent a beautiful spring day at the park on April 9th from 1pm to 6pm at Main Street Gardens Park.  This was the first annual “A Day in the Park Event” presented by ASLA Dallas, AIA Dallas, and Landscape Forms. The event was a pet, kid, family friendly and free event to encourage people to learn more about architecture and experience their downtown district. The Emerging Leaders Program also manned a booth to help promote our organization and the Field of Dreams class project.   We received very positive response from the community.  Other booths included local architecture firms and vendors. The AIA Dallas ‘Napkin Sketch’ contest and ‘Match the Building with the Architect’ contest were very popular attractions.  The event was a great way to create awareness about the architectural community within Dallas and was a great success.
